AEB 4-O 4 channel analog output modules with 96 kHz
The AEB4-O (Analog Expansion Board) adds four analog outputs in professional quality to all ADAT capable RME cards. Level adjustment +4 dBu/-10 dBV, 106 dBA SNR and a servo balanced output stage deliver perfect sound and sonic clarity.
The AEB4-O is designed for maximum flexibility. Jumpers allow to route channels 1/2 3/4 or 5/6 7/8 to the four analog outputs. Installation is done in a convenient manner using the supplied bracket, or - as no contact to any slot on the motherboard is needed - at any place inside the computer. Nuts for all TRS jacks and a drilling template are included.
Operation of the AEB-O
Using the Analog Expansion Board is very simple. The AEB4/8-O operates like any other DA-converter with ADAT input, except that it is connected internally. Therefore 'Force Adat' should be activated in the DIGI96 series Settings Dialoges, to guarantee an ADAT output signal.
The card's optical ADAT output always works in parallel to the analog output of the AEB4-O. Two jumpers allow to choose, which of the 8 ADAT channels will be present at the 4 analog outputs.
Cards of the DIGI96 series include a freely assignable analog output. Therefore PST, PAD and PRO offer a total of 6 analog output signals with the AEB4-O.

Overview
The Expansion Boards transmute RME's digital cards of the DIGI96 series, Hammerfall series and the HDSP 9652 into the most flexible audio cards available.
The AEBs (Analog Expansion Board) offer 4 or 8 analog inputs or outputs as cost-efficient addition for all ADAT-capable cards of the DIGI96 and Hammerfall series (see below). Best of all: pure RME quality, i.e. 107 dBA Signal to Noise ratio, level adjustment +4/-10 dBu and servo balanced inputs and outputs (AEB4). Combine the reliability, outstanding performance and unsurpassed compatibility of RME card's drivers and hardware with analog I/Os!
The TEB (TDIF Expansion Board) adds a TDIF port to RME cards. Using the Hammerfall and HDSP 9652, up to two TDIF ports, one ADAT port and one SPDIF (AES/EBU) port are available simultaneously!
The Word Clock Module WCM adds a word clock input and output in professional quality to the DIGI96 series. A 96 kHz capable PLL circuit, an integrated clock generator and a unique test mode extend the powerful capabilities of our digital audio cards.
Compatibility
HDSP 9652: Two AEBx-I and two AEBx-O or two TEB can be connected and operated simultaneously, in all possible combinations. One TEB can be used together with either one AEBx-I or AEBx-O. AI4S-192 and AO4S-192 can be connected. This analog expansion board includes one bracket with 4 stereo TRS jacks connects with an easy to handle ribbon cable, offer the same performance as the on-board stereo analog I/O of the HDSP 9632. Up to 192 Khz, balanced and 3 different reference levels. With this a maximum of 6 outputs can be achieved.
HDSP 9652: Maximal two AEBx-I and two AEBx-O in different combinations, or two TEBs at the same time. E. g. one TEB can be used with one AEBx-I and one AEBx-O.
Hammerfall Series An operation with the Hammerfall or Hammerfall Light requires board revision 1.5 or higher, because the internal connectors ADAT1Out, ADAT2Out and ST7 were not implemented in earlier versions. One AEBx-I and two AEBx-O can be connected and operated simultaneously, in all possible combinations. Or one TEB and one AEBx-O.
DIGI96 series AEBs use the internal ADAT interface of the DIGI cards. Therefore they do not work with the DIGI96 (which did not support ADAT.) To operate the AEB4-I and AEB8-I the used DIGIs must have the connectors ST6/7 on board (for the Word Clock Module.) These were not present on the very first cards of the DIGI96 series (1998 to beginning of 1999.) One AEBx-I and one AEBx-O can be connected and operated simultaneously, in all possible combinations. Or one TEB.
HAMMERFALL DSP MULTIFACE / DIGIFACE Multiface and Digiface use the Hammerfall DSP PCI card. This card has no internal inputs or outputs. Therefore no Expansion Boards can be used.
